CLIMATE RESILIENT BUILDING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM:
Bangladesh is located at the southern region of the Himalayas, the most earthquake prone areas in the world. Eight earthquakes having an estimated Magnitude of 7 or greater, occurred during about 100 years after the 1897 Great Assam Earthquake that provided the most serious damage to Bangladesh. Besides, on 23rd April 2013, in Dhaka area, the garment factory collapsed, and more than 1,000 employees were killed under this tragedy.
In the facts of the vulnerabilities of existing buildings and for the design of new buildings, retrofitting technology innovations are important to understand to strengthen the building functions.
BNBC has a development history since 1993 which has gained the regulatory imperatives from 2008. Most buildings considering as highly vulnerable which were constructed before 2000.
